Gugulethu-SofiaMbatha also referred to as Gugu Mbatha Raw is an actress from the UK who earned recognition for her performance in 'Doctor Who.' This British Science-fiction TV series airing on BBC. Gugu was famous for her character Tish Jones on the show on BBC. She played the role of the daughter of the main character named Martha Jones. The audience loved her cheerful enthusiasm and she had no stopping Gugu from a successful career in acting! Gugu has appeared on a variety of British dramas and television series. Critics have praised her for her role of "Belle" (2013), the English period drama and "Beyond the lights", a romantic comedy. She also appeared in American productions on television, including "Undercover" which is a Tom Hanks comedic film, and the series "Touch". Her father worked as a dealer of used cars. Her mother is a German who immigrated into the United States from Germany in 1958. The cancer of the breast was first discovered in 1989. Her death came a decade following her battle with cancer. Handler was raised in an Reform Judaism family. Her father was Jewish. Handler grew up in a safe neighborhood and had a happy childhood. At the age of 19 She made the move from the city of Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in acting. In order to support herself, Handler began to work as an actress. Handler began performing stand-up comedy full-time after she turned 21. She realized she is gifted at story telling. Handler's career began as part of the all-female Oxygen TV show in the reality show with a hidden camera and practical humor series Girls Behaving Unsteadily. The show ran on air from 2002 until 2005. The host was later employed in numerous other shows including Weekends at D.L. The Bernie Mac Show My Wife and Kids, The Practice, and Weekends at D.L. Handler began her professional career as a reporter on The Tonight Show. Handler made her breakthrough in 2006 when she hosted her E! show. known as The Chelsea Handler show. The show ran for two seasons. Handler followed this up by doing a show in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour and in the United States. Her stand-up performances have been broadcast on VH1 as well as Comedy Central's Premium Blend as well as HBO. Her name was chosen to host the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in 2010. She became the first female host in the same category as Roseanne.
