Rosie Perez

 Rosie Perez was born Rosa Maria Perez June 6, 1964. She is an American actress. Her biggest breakthrough came from Tina's character in Do the Right Thing (1989), which was followed by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance in Fearless (1993) was a huge success and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her starring film roles since include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2020).





 Perez was awarded three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another Emmy nomination for her role in The Flight Attendant (2020-present). Perez has appeared featured in Broadway plays like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. She was also the co-host of the 18th season of The View, ABC's talk show. The View.





 Early life



 Perez was born on September 6, 1964, in the Bushwick neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City She was the daughter of Lydia Perez and Ismael Serrano an ocean-going merchant mariner. [3][4][5] Perez's mother Lydia Fontanez y Reyes was born in Humacao (Puerto Rico) on October 13, 1939. Her father came from Aguadilla (Puerto Rico). Arturo Perez was her mother's 20-year-old husband. After an affair with Serrano Perez, her mother had already five children. Perez was born at the now closed Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood.





 Perez is one of her ten children. Rosie and her siblings were raised in Bushwick during the time when their mother was held in jail. While in prison her mother gave birth to her eldest daughter. For a while, she was raised by an aunt. Then, she was in foster care as well as group homes. She was often separated from her brothers. She was put in an institution for foster children, and she lived in foster care New York until she reached the age of eight. She was legally considered an ward of State of New York until age twelve. Aunts and her mother often visited her, while her father unsuccessfully made a attempt to get custody of her at some point.
